Synopsis:
Antonio (Van Lam) lives his life spontaneously, without any foresight to the consequences of his actions. He jumps into situations optimistically, blinding himself from the negatives of the world. His naive utopian world quickly begins to fall apart however, as he encounters people like Carlota (Olivia Owens) and Sofia (Danielle Bortoli), encountering the greatest dilemma of all: The mystery of love.
Director’s Note:
The seeds of El misterio del amor germinated during the production of my 2005 film Amorío de los amantes. We had just finished filming, and the cast and crew decided to go out for lunch. The story came to me while we shared stories over Indian food. The anecdote revolved around a young man who hid behind a utopian optimism to deny rejection. As soon as I heard the tale, I knew I had to adapt it to film. I finished the first draft of the script in two weeks, and we began shooting on Jan 20 2006. Production took about a month, and after another month of editing, the film went on to win Best Film at the 2006 TLHS Film Festival.
